This year’s Party for the Pets, to be held Sunday, March 30, at The Steakhouse and Lodge, will feature a dessert-making contest offering cash prizes up to $200 for the talented bakers whose creations achieve top honors.
Devised under a tongue-in-cheek theme of “Conspicuous Consumption,” this year’s Party for the Pets also will offer wine and micro-brew tastings by the Angry Minnow and others, and cheese samplings, fruit trays and other delicious desserts from the Cabin Store.
Baking contest entries will be judged in three categories: best overall taste ($200), best visual presentation ($100) and best chocolate creation ($100) — making it possible for a talented baker to go home with a sweet $400 in winnings. Three local chefs will judge the entries.
In addition, there will be a contest for the best homemade dog biscuit.
