Natural History Paddle in the Boundary Waters
Join Cable Natural History Museum Naturalist Emily Stone on a four-day adventure in her favorite place on Earth. Learn about the unique natural history of the border country as you paddle and portage lightweight Kevlar canoes into moosey lakes with great fishing, beautiful vistas, and intriguing bays. You can gain the skills to plan your own voyage, or just enjoy the company of like-minded people on this partially outfitted trip. Space is limited. Craig Allen Memorial Motorcycle Ride, Community Picnic and Music
The Craig Allen Memorial Motorcycle Ride benefits the Northwoods Humane Society. Registration is on September 9th at 9am at Camp Namekagon W2108 Larson Road, Springbrook, WI. Just 10 miles south of Hayward. The group ride leaves the grounds at 11am and should return at 4pm after 3 stops. Don't miss out on the beautiful scenic ride, great food, silent auction, doorprizes and live music. Minimum $15 donation to attend, prizes awarded for top pledge totals the day of the ride. The Sawyer County Snowmobile and ATV Alliance is planning a one day get together to celebrate 30 years of providing trails for recreational use.
Food, beverages, raffles, club booths and a complete display of all the equipment owned by the Alliance & operated by the clubs to maintain trails.
Event is to be held at the Sawyer County Fairgrounds.

Mark your calendar for the 2014 Cable Natural History Museum Golf Classic on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
The 18-hole tournament will be played on the TOIX and Deerprint courses, located midway between Cable and Drummond along Lake Owen Drive. The Deerprint course, par 31, is short but challenging. The Other Nine, (TOIX), par 34, is across the road from Deerprint, allowing the two courses to be played in an 18-hole format.
The event includes lunch prior to golf with cocktails afterward, when awards will be presented to deserving participants. In addition, all golfers will receive gifts and an opportunity to bid on silent auction items.
All proceeds will benefit the Cable Natural History Museum.
Cost is $200 per person.

Hayward Fall Festival-30th Annual
Enjoy the great colors of fall of the Hayward Area as you take in a full Main Street full of FIne Art & Craft Vendors, Food, Wine & Micro Brew Garden, Live Music, Apple and Fall produce vendors, Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Contest, Harvest Baking Contest, Kids Entertainment.

American Birkebeiner Trail Run, Relay & Trek
Events include a 5k trail run/walk, 26.2 mile relay and individual marathons, 13.1, mile half marathon, and 21K Nordic trek.
Prizes will be given to the overall winners in both men's and women's divisions and first and second place age class winners will also receive awards. Individual Marathon and Half Marathon runners will receive medals at the finish line.
Water, energy products and medical support will be available on the course, but Marathon Relay teams will be responsible for transporting their team members to specified relay exchange points using a single vehicle. The drive route includes sand and gravel forest roads and higher clearance vehicles are recommended.
