Farmers Day Market at Cable UCC Church

Namekagon Art and Music Fest
CHARAC, in cooperation with the Seeley Lions, will hold their annual Namekagon Art and Music Fest on July 6th from 10 AM to 5 PM on the festival grounds at the Seeley Sawmill. An array of fine art, craft vendors, and musicians team together for a day of family fun. Activities include an art tent for children, tie dye tee shirt tent for creating your own tie dye masterpiece, adult art activities, a poetry jam, and art demonstrations throughout the day. Last year over 1,500 people attended the fest. Artists who would like to host a booth can find an application form and information on our website at www.cablehaywararts.org.

Froest Lab Intermediate Program: Paddle the Namekagon
Join us for fun, rapids-running, and river ecology on this two night/three day canoe trip on the Namekagon River for paddlers ages 12-18 years old with some experience. Whitewater skills will be taught by an experienced guide from Lost Creek Adventures. All paddling, camping, and fishing gear is provided by the National Park Service, and a NPS Ranger will give an evening campfire program. Young adults can really hone their wilderness skills as they carry all their gear and food down the river with them. Meet at the Cable Natural History Museum at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Return by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Space is limited. Register by July 1 by calling 715-798-3890. Cost is $10 per student.

The Lost Ladybug Project
Across North America, ladybug species distribution is changing. Over the past twenty years, several native ladybugs that were once very common have become extremely rare. Scientists need your legs, hands, eyes, and photographs to investigate these changes. Join Naturalist Katie Connolly to find ladybugs and help them survive! 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Cable Natural History Museum. Be prepared for a short walk. Donations accepted. Family Canoe Trip
Adults and kids, age 8 and up, can join Museum Naturalist Emily Stone and National Park Service interpreters for a fun-filled trip down a gentle stretch of the Namekagon River. Become a Superhero Conservation Sidekick by picking up litter along the way! At the campsite, activities, a picnic supper, a ranger program, and breakfast will be provided. Canoes, paddles and life jackets, and lunches on both days are provided. A limited number of tents and sleeping bags are available to borrow. Meet at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the McDowell Bridge Landing to park and run shuttles, and return by 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Email Emily (emily@cablemuseum.org) for a gear list and more information. Habitat for Humanity of Sawyer County 13th Annual Garage Sale at the Sawyer County Fairgrounds. Pre-Sale is Thursday, July 17 4:30pm-7:30pm. Regular Sale is Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19 from 7:30am-3:30pm both days. There is a $5 admission for adults on Thursday's Pre-Sale only; no admission fee for Friday & Saturday. For 32 years Stan occupied the faculty position once held by Aldo Leopold. He has worked on endangered species problems in 21 different countries, and has helped save some of the world's rarest birds. He has long been interested in passenger pigeons, having analyzed historical records of the species that were first assembled by A. W. Schorger for his 1955 book on the life history and ecology of the species. Stan?s presentation explores the ecology and life history of the passenger pigeon and other extinct and endangered birds, current extinction crises, endangered species recovery, human relationship with wildlife, and sustainable use of biological resources. 7:00 p.m. at the Cable Community Centre. Redbery Reads for Kids: Meet the Superhero Dung Beetle
Dung beetles are true superheroes! Male dung beetles can pull over 1,000 times their own weight, which would be the equivalent to a human pulling six buses full of people! They are also the only insect to use stars and moonlight for navigation. Come and learn about these remarkable creatures.
