Event Description

Dairy-Aire Theatrics Presents: Heroes
A Tom Stoppard translation of a play by Gerald Sibleyras

Three World War One veterans are whiling away their days in a French Sanatorium in 1959. But their humdrum lives are rejuvenated when they hatch a daring plan to escape their confines and the murderous clutches of their keeper, Sister Mary Madeleine. Winner of the 2006 Laurence Olivier BEST NEW COMEDY Award, it’s been described as “Cuckoo’s Nest” meets “Waiting for Godot.”

Starring:
Patrick O’Brien; An Eau Claire native, he’s returned to the Twin Cities after 22 years in LA. He’s appeared in over a hundred films (Benjamin Button, Pleasantville, Stuart Little, Intolerable Cruelty…) and TV shows (Saved by the Bell, ER, CSI, Monk, West Wing, Reba, Night Court, Baywatch, Sabrina, Home Improvement…) He’s glad to be back in Hayward, having performed his one man show, “Underneath The Lintel” at the Park a couple years ago.

Laurence Ripp is a 32 year veteran of the Twin Cities theater scene with many shows under his belt, some of which being his own productions. A former radio announcer and commercial copywriter, Larry enjoys writing his own material and has produced a number of award winning short plays.

John Gottskalkson: Has been performing character roles for over 25 years. He was most recently seen as Dave Moss in Sweet Charity’s production of Glengarry Glen Ross, for which he won Best actor award for the MACT Festival. John has performed for several other theaters around town including Park Square, Lyric (John Hassler Theater) TRP, and the Minnesota Shakespeare Company.
